Ebb One & Jaba Da Kut - Walk

"Walk" is a song off a recent EP released by Ebb One & Jaba Da Kut titled "Mutiny".
"Walk" was actually the first song Jaba and I started working on. Immediately after hearing the beat I knew exactly what I wanted do with this song. It was last spring (2013) and I didn't have a vehicle. I was walking to and from work occasionally and always thought how much more interesting my day was when I did. I began to think it would be fun to do a "pro" walk song and accompany it with a video that would capture the experience that we take for granted sometimes, including myself (I have a car now and walk MUCH less). This video is a look into OUR city (Eugene) and my foot travels through out it, which is all I was trying to accomplish. Thanks for the listen and look, please share to your hearts content. - ebb

Iman Omari – ESC Vol. 2 (Instrumental Album)

With only a couple of a features from JaVonte (great ones at that), Iman Omari gives us a handful of new instrumentals that are smooth-yet-choppy, sample-driven, blend of jazz, funk, and soul and have Omari’s trademark original feel to them. James River = The Piano Water.
DJH samples DJH
The James River shares many stories of its older inhabitants: slaves, Native Americans, travelers of the sort. Its current masks the distant sounds of freedom, death, turmoil, happiness, triumph, failure, and perseverance. The mirky brown resonates through to the inner evolving history located within those who confront it. They left us with spirituals for hope, peace and love. These spirituals are the stories from another time never seen again; gifts from our ancestors, whom continue to watch and protect all of us who utilize the gifts.
Im from Virginia. I like my music true, honest, and raw.

Blueprint announces new album "Respect The Architect"

Critically acclaimed MC/producer Blueprint's latest album Respect the Architect, takes his years of experience making underground hip hop music and channels it into a cherished vessel of classic 90’s rap records – the soul sample chop. Musically inspired by the sounds of sampling pioneers the RZA, Public Enemy, and Gang Starr, Respect the Architect is the sound of one of hip hop’s most brilliant students looking back to pay homage to past luminaries, while also acknowledging his own veteran status.
It's a ranking that is without debate. Since emerging from the Columbus, OH scene in the late 90’s with his own crew Greenhouse Effect, Blueprint has released records through independent hip hop powerhouse Rhymesayers Entertainment and toured extensively across North America and Europe, both as one-half of his collaborative project Soul Position with DJ/Producer RJD2 as well as through his own solo work. His 2005 solo debut 1988 was a love letter to the height of hip hop’s Golden Age, while his last major album (2011’s Adventures in Counter-Culture) found him incorporating synths and drum machines resulting in a more experimental, genre-defying sound.

Respect the Architect represents a complete about-face, with its raw, stripped-down approach. The album’s tracks are anchored by sampled loops, with little-to-no drums or additional production. With this soulful musical canvas behind him, Print drops his patented no-frills rhymes with bravado and style, all while showcasing why he truly has become one of the architects of independent hip hop culture. Print also unveils some of the most personal songs of his career on heartfelt tracks “Silver Lining” and “Perspective.” Flanked by guest appearances from Greenhouse Crew’s Illogic, Count Bass D, and Midaz the Beast, Respect the Architect is an unadulterated dose of rap in its purest essence – and proves why participants in hip hop’s culture should take heed to the album’s title.

Mara Hruby – Cry Me A River

The debut single and fiery torch song “Cry Me A River,” from the Bay Area native singer-songwriter Mara Hruby, is just a puzzle piece to her upcoming emotionally drenched EP entitled ‘Archaic Rapture’. It reveals a vulnerable side of who Ms. Hruby is and what she has experienced unlike anything you have ever seen or heard from her.
This video is a visual representation of all that lingered with Ms. Hruby; love, loss, heartache, loneliness, and of course lessons learned as she went through her first heartbreak. Shot and Directed by Dr. Woo of Light Up Film, you are able to take a look into the private heart of the singer who lost a love that she believed in. Shot in Ms. Hruby’s childhood home, you get to see a side of her that has always remained private. Take note, this is just Part I of “Cry Me A River” and Part II is coming soon!
Archaic Rapture is set to release March 18th, 2014.

After a few dope leaks and offerings, the ambitious new project from Amerigo Gazaway is finally here, featuring mashups from both Mos Def and Marvin Gaye's expansive catalogues. Do your ears a favor and press play!
Amerigo Gazaway’s new *Soul Mates* series continues the theme of his previous work in creating collaborations that never were. On the series’ first installment, the producer unites Brooklyn rapper Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and soul legend Marvin Gaye for a dream collaboration aptly titled “Yasiin Gaye”. Building the album’s foundation from deconstructed samples of Gaye’s Motown classics, Gazaway re-orchestrates the instrumentation into new productions within a similar framework. Carefully weaving Bey’s dense raps and Gaye’s soulful vocals over his new arrangements, the producer delivers a quality far closer to Gaye’s famous duets than that of a “mashup” album.

Virginia-based producer Lakim has released his debut full-length album titled "This Is Her". The Soulection member is perhaps best known for his 2012 EP "Esoteric" and for his collaborations with artists like Sango and Mr. Carmack. According to Lakim, the album has a very feminine vibe to it, as he drew inspiration for the project from the women he has encountered in his life. Lakim called the project a “Bride of Frankenstein-esque lady friend.”
LAKIM is releasing his first full-length album, This Is Her. Multi-genre producer born and radummyised in Lynchburg, Virginia whose personal motto reads: “keep it simple”, is a part of the storied Soulection crew. Well known for his EP Esoteric, which dropped in summer 2012, the twentysomething year old has collaborations with other stellar artists like Sango and Mr. Carmack as well as various remixes of premium artists such as Erykah Badu, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean range from electronic chillwaved dance to spacey yet refined hip-hop. With a unique sound that seamlessly and effortlessly combines the perfect amount of bass, bounce and vocals, This Is Her becomes palatable to many.

The album has an overwhelming feminine vibe to it – light and airy, soft and beautiful. As LAKIM draws the soundscape for this project from some inspiring ladies in his life, the sounds come through as traits: calm & collected, sexy & sassy, grounded & driven, loving & unconditional.

“During the course of the year I probably spent making this, I met three woman that embodied some of these traits but not all of them. So, this is essentially me taking the best bits from each of them and creating in my mind a Bride of Franksteinesque ladyfriend and putting it into song form, lol...” - LAKIM
