Rhythm Roulette w/ El-P

This time around on "Rhythm Roulette," we linked up with the one and only, El Producto. The Def Jux general blessed us with the opportunity to gain some insight on the process, which has helped him make classic material since 1993. After heading to a hole-in-the-wall record shop and picking out some dusty old warped records, El showed us how to make something out of nothing/s, starting with his rusty, self-fixed, ASR-10.

The Underachievers – The Lords of Flatbush (Mixtape)

Calling on Lex Luger to provide the majority of the production, the Brooklyn duo of Issa Dash and AK return with their first project since February’s "Indigoism" mixtape.

Murph Watkins – Call ‘Em Freaks

Off his latest project "Loose Women & Booze". Murph doesn’t disrespect the females, but he will call them freaks. Don’t believe me just watch. Directed by Brianna Lashé

Jarred A.G. - So I Go (Prod. Smoko Ono)

Jarred A.G. hails from Chicago, where the hip-hop scene only seems to get stronger and more diverse by the minute. His new single, “So I Go”, has a gangster-ish vibe to it, though it’s certainly more weeded than menacing.

Lotus - Cloud 9 f. Doodlebug & Ras Arcane

"Cloud 9" is the new single from genre-bending quintet Lotus, who are dabbling more in the hip-hop realm on upcoming album "Monks". Pre-order "Monks" on Bandcamp.

Incomparable Shakespeare - #InvincibleDream (Mixtape)

More than a compilation of Shakespeare's #InvincibleDream freestyles, this project is an homage to 90's underground Hip-Hop. Hosted by legendary VJ and radio personality, Sway, the mixtape plays like the classic blend tapes made famous by DJ's such as Kid Capri, Doo Wop, and Ron G. Florida based producer, The R.L. handles the mix while creating an experience new and old Hip-Hop heads can enjoy. He seamlessly blends classics like Black Moon's "Murder MCs" into Shake's interpretations, and gives new context to all joints. Enjoy!

Rakeem Miles - Reincarnated

Brand new single from the OGTOMK member and Baltimore MC and producer Rakeem Miles.

Solomon Grunge - Green Notes (Instrumental)

Too many environmentalists disregard inconvenient truths that would undermine their faith that calamities are percolating just over the horizon. It might well be that humans' "footprint" on the Earth is larger than ever; it might even be true that this larger footprint creates some health risks for us modern humans that our pre-industrial ancestors never encountered

fLako x ATCQ - Sluggish Again (Dappa Dubs Refix)

This mash up by Dappa Dubs has been club-tested & successfully passed all approval tests and operational field trials.

THROWBACK: Iman Europe - aliens&robots EP

Iman Europe released this wonderful EP in 2012. I had seen her name in some places and decided to check her out. She's great: a wonderful voice and very inspirational. Check out her EP and let us know what you think.

With part one ending with an up and coming rapper wanting to get backstage without a badge/wristband, Kane Mayfield takes some time out to share the #NewRules to the game. A3C goes down October 2nd-6th in Atlanta, act accordingly.

FowL – Untold (prod. Tycoon Beats)

Back by a hard-hitting production courtesy of Tycoon Beats, Detroit’s FowL hits us with another loosie.

Shad - Fam Jam (Fe Sum Immigrins)

Shad's shown love for his family and heritage over the years in a number of ways but he’s never done it with quite the mainstream flair of “Fam Jam (Fe Sum Immigrins)”. It’s the feel-good new single from his fourth full-length, "Flying Colours", which is due out Oct. 15th.

Akir – Focus (FreEP)

After hitting us with the Immortal Technique-assisted “Future” earlier this month, Akir returns with a six-track EP. Take a listen above an get ready for the Viper Records emcee’s forthcoming LP, "The Plan", due out September 24th.

J-Zone: Limitations And Mistakes

You know I hate texting, still use a Walkman and have run a small business since 1999 without owning a printer; but did you know I’m also a Luddite when I’m working on music? Of course I am!
I don’t shoot a lot of videos, but here’s one of me in the studio during the making of my upcoming album, Peter Pan Syndrome, using the most raggedy, busted, broken, obsolete equipment I could find, including my two girlfriends (cassette decks), Betsy and Diana. I also played the drums wearing a carpal tunnel brace, used a constantly shedding, cheap-ass Ikea rug to muffle the studio and still use the computer monitor that probably came with the Commodore 64! It’s all about limitations and mistakes. Perfection is for suckers.

Shigeto - Detroit

Sometimes, a music video can help you better understand the actual music within the piece. Other times, it can serve as the vehicle for the narrative within the lyrics or instrumentation. And somewhere in between, the perfect music video can accomplish both of those things. This is a great video!

Yuna – Rescue

Yuna follows up the intoxicating “Falling” with an uplifting new single off her upcoming album, "Nocturnal" (Oct. 29th).

Drake - The Motion f. Sampha (Sango Remix)

Here we have Sango‘s newly released remix of loosie “The Motion“. The moody cut makes for an equally melancholy rework.

Jared Evan – Bad News (prod. Statik Selektah)

While he works on his next project (slated for a Fall release), Jared Evan releases the last video from his Statik Selektah-produced "Boom Bap & Blues LP", available on iTunes now.

CharlieRED: The Story Behind the Man in MUSE.

Sprinkled throughout CharlieRED’s MUSE. were three inspirational audio clips from an unknown man. Now the mystery is no more as Rocki Evans and Cobaine Ivory share the story behind the voice.

Illa Ghee – Illa Price Express Freestyle f. Sean Price

Veteran Mobb Deep affiliate Illa Ghee continues his recent run with Sean Price. Over-top of Kraftwerk’s “Trans Europe Express”, these two Brooklyn bruts bounces bars filled with humor, threats and that classic O.G. lexicon that makes Sean P even better now than in his Heltah Skeltah days.

Mysonne – Dreams & Nightmares

Mysonne drops some bars over Meek Mills’ “Intro” in his latest visual. Directed by Rodolfo Duran.

STASHED: ScHoolboy Q Dissects oxymoron pt. 2

ScHoolboy Q returns to STASHED TV for the second installment of SESSIONS. Picking up where we left off with him last time, the TDE rapper speaks to us about why he hates performing “Hands On The Wheel,” the most annoying interview questions and why Instagram video sucks.
“Everybody say that because I feel like everybody feels bad. Cause most rappers you hear, the second artist from the camp I guess you can say… like I’m the second artist about to drop a major album. You know most of the rappers that have the rapper homie, the rapper homie is usually just alright. Or he got the deal because he was his homie or whatever but it wasn’t the case with me,” says Q about following Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city.
“But whatever. It is what it is, it’s like somebody being signed to Kanye they are gonna ask about Kanye all the time, or if you signed to Jay you talk about Jay all the time. I’m signed with one of the artists that is the king of the culture right now so people are gonna ask me that all the time. I just got a lot to prove to people.”

EKSE - 26082013

Hear the latest beat from the spanish beatmaker EKSE, smooth and chill vibes for our souls.

Dpat - In Bloom (Album)

"In Bloom" showcases a beautiful mixture of lush soundscapes layered with soulful rnb vocals and swirled in live instrumentation, in large part performed by the project's creator, Dpat. The title track "Above Us", represents Dpat's soft, yet intentional beat structure full of dreamy keys, rnb charisma and Sango-infused bass lines. Angelic vocals from Austin-based Isles are weaved throughout the track making it a realistic glimpse into the sound story of "In Bloom".

Manu Beats - New York

Some motherfucking beat greatness from the spanish producer. Classic flavour in this one.

Pete Rock: Just One Record

New York R&B duo Denitia and Sene continue to push the boundaries of R&B with new single ‘Feel Better,’ an impressive and low-key thumping offering.

Danny Brown - ODB

When Danny Brown was all annoyed over the delay of his new album "Old", he hinted at the fact that he had a new video on the way. It features direction and animation by none other than Ruff Mercy, who somehow harnesses the absolute insanity of Brown’s rhymes and Paul White‘s snarling instrumental. "Old" drops Sept. 30th.

Knxwledge. - Ovrstnd.B.Sde_ (Beat Tape)

Knxwledge is one of the busiest producers that needs to lend his sounds out to more talent like he did with Joey Bada$$. This guy probably puts out a tape of around fifteen never-before-heard sounds about every month. "Ovrstnd.B.Sde_" is his newest masterpiece that features the typical groove of the California producer with choppy samples and dusty drums. Check it out below and be on the lookout for two projects he has coming up, "Rap Jointz Vol. "1 and "Kauliflowr". THROWBACKS: Killarmy - Wu-Renegades

Killarmy is a hip hop group, also known through its affiliation with the Wu-Tang Clan It is one of the earliest and the most successful of the many Wu-Tang affiliates. It distinguishes itself from the other Wu-Tang Clan affiliates with gritty subject matter, differing from the standard subject matter of martial arts and party flavoured lyrics common to Wu-Tang Clan and their affiliates and focusing on themes of military and combat but with a heavy dose of the Five-percenter philosophy prevalent in everything related to Wu-Tang Clan.

Killarmy released numerous singles from 1995 to 1997, including "Swinging Swords" and "Camouflage Ninjas" as well as the Sunz Of Man collaborations "Wake Up" and "Soldiers of Darkness." Cardim and a few others for his latest offering. Stream/download below and if you’d like to support, the project is also available on iTunes/Amazon
On the album, Fluent meanders from boom-bap influenced production that’s rooted in the context of Hip-Hop’s Golden Era, while also crafting records that emphasize his knack for song writing, over more progressive instrumentation native to club and radio, hence the title, Retro Future.

14KT - Nickel & Dimed (Album)

14KT laces together 14 instrumentals + 1 song with an incomparable ear for flipping samples, and his signature boom-bap, off-kilter drum programming and spacey synths. Then he enlists a handful of his favorite artists for a vocal encore (including Blu, Black Milk and MED) + appearances by Detroit's own JMSN on the summer cruiser Slo Swerve (also featuring Jamall Bufford) and Cali's Kokane (along with MED) on the new west coast anthem "W.C.E.F." 14KT even steps up to the microphone himself on "Five & Ten" to paint a picture of his take on the phrase, “nickel and dimed."
