Tricky is back with a new album and his own record label, both bearing the name False Idols. Like much of the album, "Tribal Drums" features vocalist Francesca Belmonte. As early reviews have stated, the album is a stirring return to form from Tricky. False Idols comes out May 28th on False Idols in association with !K7 Records, and also features vocals from Nneka, Peter Silberman (of The Antlers), and Fifi Rong.

The Cannabinoids - The Beat Tape Vol. 2

The Cannabinoids, led by Erykah Badu, are a collective of DJs and producers primarily based out of Dallas, Texas. Included on the list of nine artists is DJ A1, Symbolyc One, PicnicTyme, Rob Free and more. This past weekend, the collective dropped a bomb of a beat tape over at Beatport, which is a rather interesting take on instrumental releases. Coming in at 20 minutes, this project features the squad of producers jamming out live with a wide range of psychedelic instrumentation

Jeff Chery – Three Headed Monster (Prod. Funkybeats)

On his latest buzz track, “Three Headed Monster”, rapper Jeff Chery takes listeners on a walking tour of New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles — the epicenters of music in America and the sources of great struggle and violence.

With all three impacting Jeff’s life (he grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y.; now resides in Atlanta and takes frequent trips to L.A.), he draws on his experiences with each and paints vivid pictures of their distinctive characters.

The Funkybeats-produced “Three Headed Monster” will appear on Jeff’s next, yet-to-be-titled project, which is set for release later this year.

With a May 1st release date set for his "No Wising Up No Settling Down LP", Sole gave Prefix the green light to stream the entire shebang.
The Denver rapper comments on anything from his growing distaste towards ignorant hypocrites, the relevancy of the Internet generation, and the repercussions of capitalism. He even finds himself vicariously voicing his modus operandi that parallels the anarchist philosophy of feminist Emma Goldman.

Legendary New York hip hop veteran Bumpy Knuckles is set to release Lock’d N The Lab in late August via Gracie Productions, his first solo album in 10 years since Konexion.

This of course follows on from last year’s highly successful collaboration The Kolexxxion LP with long term associate DJ Premier.

“Keep On Grinding” is the first official single taken from the album, featuring Christopher Williams and is produced by Bumpy himself, aka Freddie Foxxx. Currently putting together plans for an international tour later in the year, expect to see more singles, videos & news on this release over the coming months.
